Creating illustrations for a music book isn't a common ask, but I jumped at the chance when local violinist, Maria Cherwick, asked me to illustrate a book filled with her original tunes. Maria is a local legend and is a virtuoso on the violin so the music in the book is just incredible. The Kubansonics (just one of her bands) is a local favourite.

I designed the cover image was to reflect her Ukrainian heritage. It was also used for the CD cover.

A happy coincidence: I gave my character a blue fiddle. Funnily enough, when I showed Maria the image, she told me she’d played a blue fiddle as a kid!
